Western Cape Game Viewing
Game viewing and game drives are a special way to explore the surrounds of Southern Africa, and learn more about the animal inhabitants that roam the countryside.
Southern Africa is literally teeming with wildlife and adventure awaits every visitor to a game park or reserve, as a close encounter with at least one of the Big Five – elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo – is sure to be on the cards.
Game viewing is done mainly on game drives. Game drives can be undertaken in either closed vehicles, in National Parks, or open safari vehicles, in Private Game Reserves. Day and night drives offer different perspectives and experiences of animals in their natural habitat. Of course, the option of hiking and walking trails also offers you the experience of viewing Southern Africa’s wild animals at rest and at play. Exploring the nature reserves or game parks on horseback is also sometimes an option. Expert rangers accompany you on all game drives, walks and trails, and can help point out animals and fill you in on some interesting facts about the animals you discover.
There is a huge variety of wildlife and game to be seen across the country, and each region offers a unique experience. The Western Cape is home to a large variety of establishments and resorts, located near to and within the region’s reserves and parks.
